Is there a best day to make cold calls?
To be fair, the only “right” answer is to test for yourself.
Every business is different. B2B is different from B2C. Auto dealers answer the phone at different times than contractors. Some prospects have gatekeepers, others don’t.
BUT… data can provide some very helpful insights. It’s a great reference point.
So, we decided to run some data of our own to see what we could learn. For this edition of our ongoing “Sales Stats” series, we used a data set of over 11 million calls spanning 4.5 years to determine the best day for sales call answer rates.
Here’s what we came up with…
We see a pretty clear trend here. Answer rates peak at the beginning of the workweek (with a slight jump from Monday to Tuesday) and then gradually decrease throughout the week and weekend.
Friday definitely appears to be the worst day of the typical workweek, falling more than 10% behind Tuesday – which leads the pack.
But overall, the weekday numbers seem fairly consistent, and make a good argument for the fact that ANY day can be a productive day for a dial session.
How does this data jive with your experience? What’s your best day of the week for cold calls? Let us know in the comments below…
