Robocall software is defined as technology that autodials a list of numbers and automatically plays a pre-recorded message when the call is answered.

Are robocalls legal?

According to ftc.gov robocalls from political candidates and charitable organizations are legal. So are purely information calls such as appointment reminders, school closings, and flight updates. However robocalls are illegal “if the recording is a sales message and you haven't given your written permission to get calls from the company on the other end.”
